Hello, adventurer! Are you ready for tropical paradise?
Costa Rica is the ultimate destination for nature lovers, adventurers and explorers. And if you're looking for breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife and authentic cultural experiences, southern Costa Rica is the perfect place for you. Especially the OSA Peninsula (Corcovado National Park) and the Chirripo zone, Costa Rica's highest mountain. These are all places that are not yet as touristy as Samara, Tamarindo and many other places on the Nicoya Peninsula.
Here are some reasons why you should not miss this part of the country:

#1: Diverse Ecosystem of Costa Rica
The south of Costa Rica is home to an incredible variety of ecosystems. From lush rainforests to mangrove-covered estuaries and gorgeous beaches, you'll find it all here. You can explore the famous Corcovado National Park, considered one of the most biodiverse places in the world, or hike through the cloud forests of the Talamanca Mountains. The beauty and diversity of nature will simply blow you away. What fascinates me the most personally: There are incredibly many and large nature reserves and protected regions of indigenous peoples that you can visit.
In addition, you will find different climate zones in a small area, so if you want a tropical climate, then go to the beach. If after a few days you feel too hot or humid, head for the cool mountains, only an hour away...
In my opinion, this fact gives the country a huge plus point and a lot of quality of life for the inhabitants, and of course for you once you are here!

This is one of the beaches in the Corcovado National Park region. It's called Playa Rincon, and it's still so unknown that you'll encounter very few, if any, tourists here. Oh, and an important point: The most beautiful sunsets in the region are guaranteed here!
The few hotels you find here are surrounded by pure nature and in this region it is 100% certain that you will see animals such as monkeys, parrots, other bird species and maybe even a tapir.
Speaking of animals, we come to the next point why you should definitely visit the south of Costa Rica:
#2: Animal observation
Costa Rica is known for its diverse wildlife, and the south is a real hotspot for wildlife viewing. Here you have the chance to see rare and exotic animals such as monkeys, sloths, colourful birds, sea turtles and even whales. Corcovado National Park is especially known for its biodiversity and offers you the chance to see some of the rarest animals in the world in their natural habitat.

Turtle season from July to January: hundreds of turtles return to the same beach after decades to lay their eggs. You can take advantage of this opportunity and be part of a relief project to save the little turtles... Or you can just go and watch them being released into the sea under observation after hatching. It's a beautiful phenomenon that will stay in your memory for sure.

#3: (Adventure) Activities
There is no such thing as boredom in Costa Rica. The south of the country offers numerous adventurous activities for adrenaline junkies. For example, you can glide through the treetops on canopy tours, explore breathtaking waterfalls, try white-water rafting on the Rio Savegre or take an exciting ATV tour through the jungle.
Of course, there are also activities for people who prefer slower and more relaxed pursuits: walks along the beaches all the way to Corcovado National Park, horseback riding, river/ocean kayaking, and much more.
The possibilities are endless! Whether you want to take a tour to Corcovado National Park, a snorkelling trip to Isla de Caño or book a night tour, there is something for everyone, guaranteed to make your holiday an unforgettable experience.
#4: Authentic culture
The south of Costa Rica is also a great place to get to know the local culture. You can visit traditional villages, discover local handicrafts and interact with the friendly locals. Here you can experience authentic Costa Rica and be enchanted by the warm hospitality of the people. Not for nothing are the "Ticos" (that's what the locals call themselves) the happiest people in the world according to the Happy Planet Index!
Oh yes, and if you don't know where to start or where to go, feel free to contact me personally via the contact form, I can book you a round trip, connect you or you can find other interesting posts on this blog.
#5: Sustainable tourism
Costa Rica is known worldwide for its efforts in sustainable tourism. The south of the country is a pioneer in this field, offering a variety of sustainable accommodation, conservation projects and community-based initiatives. You can be part of these positive changes by travelling responsibly and protecting Costa Rica's natural beauty.
These were just a few of the many reasons why you should travel to Costa Rica and especially to the south of the country.
So, pack your bags and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime in southern Costa Rica! Explore untouched nature, observe wild animals, plunge into exciting activities and immerse yourself in the fascinating culture. I promise you will return home with unforgettable memories and a deep connection to nature.
Pura Vida!
